My brothers and I, along with some visitors (close friends of my parents) actually chanted for 8 hours straight after she passed. It was to guide her on her final passage. It’s believed in my culture that when a person passes away, the hearing goes last. It wasn’t the Medicine Buddha prayer but rather a shorter mantra (chant). It was quite peaceful actually. And it gave me a sense of peace and guided me towards acceptance.
